Our black pepper essential oil is steam-distilled from the sun-dried, nearly ripe peppercorns of Piper nigrum. It has a sharp, warm, woody and spicy aroma that is drier and more elegant than the kitchen spice. It is loved for diffusing in cooler months, for warming massage blends (well diluted) and as a middle note in natural perfumery, where it adds a dry, spicy “spine” to floral, citrus and resinous blends.

Each bottle is made of amber glass to help protect the oil from light, and is fitted with a precision pump. Choose the 10ml size to try it or the 30ml size for regular use.

How to use

• Diffuser: add 2 to 4 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser in a well-ventilated room, in sessions of 30 to 60 minutes.
• Inhalation: put 1 drop on a tissue and breathe in gently. Keep the tissue away from your skin.
• On the skin: always dilute. Mix 2 drops into 10ml of a carrier oil such as jojoba or sweet almond (about 1%). Never exceed 2% (about 6 drops per 15ml). Patch test first and avoid the face.

Important safety information

• Can irritate the skin. May cause an allergic skin reaction. Never apply undiluted, keep skin use to 2% or less (1% if your skin is sensitive) and avoid broken or sensitive skin and the eyes.
• For external and aromatic use only. Do not swallow. The oil is very different from the culinary spice.
• Keep out of reach of children, and do not use on or near the face of babies or young children.
• Essential oils can be harmful to pets, especially cats, so ventilate the room, let animals leave when diffusing and never apply the oil to them.
• If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, take medication or have a medical condition, speak to a healthcare professional before use.

Can I put black pepper essential oil on my skin?
Only when diluted. Keep it to 2% or less (about 6 drops per 15ml of carrier oil), or 1% if your skin is sensitive, and patch test first. It can irritate, so avoid the face and broken skin.

Is black pepper essential oil the same as ground pepper?
No. The oil is steam-distilled from peppercorns and smells drier and more woody than the spice. It should never be swallowed or used as a seasoning.

What does black pepper blend well with?
