Ginger Essential Oil (Zingiber officinale)

Our ginger essential oil is steam-distilled from the dried rhizomes and has a warm, spicy and earthy aroma with a sharp citrus top note. It is loved for diffusing in cooler weather, for adding a spicy glow to citrus and resin blends, and for gently warming massage blends when well diluted.

Each bottle is a glass bottle with a glass pipette dropper for controlled, drop-by-drop use. Choose the 10ml size to try it or the 30ml size for regular use.

How to use

• Diffuser: add 2 to 3 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser in a well-ventilated room, in sessions of 30 to 60 minutes.
• Inhalation: put 1 drop on a tissue and hold it a little way from your face. Not for young children.
• On the skin: always dilute. Mix 3 drops into 15ml of a carrier oil such as sesame or jojoba (about 1%). Never exceed 1%. Patch test first, and stop if the skin feels hot or tingly.

Important safety information

• Ginger oil is warming and may cause skin irritation or an allergic skin reaction. Never apply undiluted, keep skin use to 1% or less, and avoid the face, eyes and sensitive areas.
• For external and aromatic use only. Do not swallow.
• Not recommended for young children. Keep it out of their reach and do not use it on or near the face of babies or young children.
• Essential oils can be harmful to pets, especially cats, so ventilate the room and let animals leave when diffusing.
• If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical condition or take regular medication, including blood-thinning medicines, speak to a healthcare professional before use.

Can I put ginger essential oil on my skin?
Only when well diluted. Keep skin use to 1% or less (about 3 drops per 15ml of carrier oil), patch test first, avoid the face and broken skin, and stop if the skin feels irritated, hot or itchy.

Is ginger essential oil the same as fresh ginger?
No. The oil is a concentrated extract steam-distilled from dried rhizomes. It is for aromatic and diluted external use only, never for cooking or swallowing.

What does ginger oil smell like and what blends with it?
It smells warm, spicy and earthy with a citrusy lift, and blends well with Sweet Orange, Grapefruit, Cardamom, Frankincense and Cinnamon.
