Our sweet orange essential oil is cold-pressed from the rind of the ripe fruit, a mechanical process that involves no heat. The aroma is bright, sweet, juicy and instantly recognisable, and it is one of the most universally liked oils we sell. It is loved for freshening kitchens and living spaces, for warm seasonal blends with spices, and as a generous top note in natural perfumery.

Each bottle is made of amber glass to help protect the oil from light, and comes with a glass pipette dropper for controlled, drop-by-drop use. Choose the 10ml size to try it or the 30ml size for regular use.

How to use

• Diffuser: add 4 to 6 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser in a well-ventilated room, in short sessions. It is light and disperses quickly.
• Inhalation: put 1 to 2 drops on a tissue kept nearby. Keep it off your skin.
• On the skin: always dilute. Mix 2 drops into 10ml of a carrier oil such as sweet almond or grapeseed (about 1%). Never exceed 1% (about 3 drops per 15ml). Use fresh oil and patch test first.

Important safety information

• May cause an allergic skin reaction, particularly when the oil has oxidised. Never apply undiluted, keep skin use to 1% or less and avoid broken or sensitive skin and the eyes.
• Cold-pressed citrus oils oxidise readily on contact with air. Keep the bottle tightly closed, store it cool and away from light, and use it within about 12 months of opening.
• Sweet orange is not generally regarded as phototoxic, but if you have sensitive skin it is sensible to avoid strong sun or sunbeds on skin where you have used a citrus oil blend.
• For external and aromatic use only. Do not swallow.
• Keep out of reach of children, and do not use on or near the face of babies or young children.
• Citrus oils can be harmful to pets, especially cats. Ventilate the room, let animals leave freely when diffusing and never apply the oil to them.
• If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, take regular medication or have a medical condition, speak to a healthcare professional before use.

Can I put sweet orange essential oil on my skin?
Only when diluted. Keep it to 1% or less (about 3 drops per 15ml of carrier oil), use fresh oil and patch test first. Avoid the face and broken skin.

Is sweet orange oil phototoxic?
Sweet orange is not generally regarded as phototoxic, unlike some other citrus oils. If your skin is sensitive, it is still sensible to avoid strong sun on skin where you have used it.
