Carrot Seed Essential Oil (Daucus carota)

The warm, earthy seed of Queen Anne’s Lace.

Our carrot seed essential oil is steam-distilled from the dried seeds of Daucus carota, the wild carrot plant often known as Queen Anne’s Lace. It has a deep, warm, woody-earthy aroma with a herbaceous edge, and is loved for grounding diffuser blends and as a rich middle note in natural perfumery.

Each bottle is made of amber glass to help protect the oil from light, and comes with a glass pipette dropper for controlled, drop-by-drop use. Choose the 10ml size to try it or the 30ml size for regular use.

How to use

• Diffuser: add 2 to 3 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser in a well-ventilated room, in short sessions.
• Inhalation: put 1 drop on a tissue and hold it nearby. Keep the tissue away from your skin.
• On the skin: always dilute. Mix no more than 3 drops into 15ml of a carrier oil such as jojoba (1%), or 2 drops into 10ml. Never exceed 1%. Patch test first.

Important safety information

• Not for use in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Safety authorities advise avoiding carrot seed oil in these periods, so please do not diffuse or apply it.
• May cause an allergic skin reaction. Use no more than 1% on the skin, never undiluted, and patch test first. Avoid contact with eyes.
• For external and aromatic use only. Do not swallow.
• Keep out of reach of children. Do not use on or near the face of babies or young children. Take particular care around cats and ventilate the room when diffusing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put carrot seed essential oil on my skin?
Only when diluted, to no more than 1% (about 3 drops per 15ml of carrier oil, or 2 drops per 10ml). Patch test first and avoid broken skin and the eye area. Do not use it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Is carrot seed oil the same as carrot seed carrier oil?
No. This is a steam-distilled essential oil from the seeds of wild carrot, and it is strongly scented. It is not a carrier oil, so it must always be diluted in one before it touches the skin.

What does carrot seed blend well with?
Its earthy warmth pairs nicely with Cedarwood, Frankincense, Geranium, Lavender and Sandalwood.
