Myrrh Essential Oil (Commiphora myrrha)

Our myrrh essential oil is steam-distilled from the golden resin of Commiphora myrrha. It has a deep, warm aroma with earthy, balsamic undertones and a subtle smoky sweetness. Myrrh has been used for thousands of years in incense and perfumery, and it makes a rich resinous base note for meditation spaces, home fragrance and natural perfume blends.

Each bottle is made of matte black glass to help protect the oil from light, and comes with a glass pipette dropper for controlled, drop-by-drop use. Choose the 10ml size to try it or the 30ml size for regular use.

How to use

• Diffuser: add 2 to 4 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser in a well-ventilated room, in short sessions. Warm the closed bottle gently in your hands if the oil is slow to drop.
• Inhalation: put 1 drop on a tissue or cotton ball and breathe in gently. Keep it away from your skin.
• On the skin: always dilute. Mix about 0.3% (1 drop per 15ml) into a carrier oil such as jojoba. Patch test first.

Important safety information

• Use no more than about 0.3% on the skin (1 drop per 15ml of carrier oil). Myrrh may cause skin irritation or an allergic skin reaction in sensitive people, so patch test first, never apply undiluted and avoid the eyes and sensitive areas.
• For external and aromatic use only. Do not swallow.
• Avoid myrrh oil during pregnancy and while breastfeeding, as published safety guidance advises against it. Speak to a healthcare professional if you have a medical condition or take medication.
• Keep out of reach of children, and do not use it on or near the face of babies or young children.
• Essential oils can be harmful to pets. Ventilate the room, let animals leave freely when diffusing and never apply myrrh oil to them.
• Essential oils are not medicines and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.
