Cornmint Essential Oil (Mentha arvensis)

Our cornmint essential oil is steam-distilled from the leaves and is known for its high menthol content. It has a sharp, crystalline, intensely cool minty aroma that many people find awakening, which makes it a favourite for short diffuser sessions and fresh, bracing blends.

Each bottle is a glass bottle with a glass pipette dropper for controlled, drop-by-drop use. Choose the 10ml size to try it or the 30ml size for regular use.

How to use

• Diffuser: add 2 to 3 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser in a well-ventilated room, in short sessions of 15 to 20 minutes. Cornmint is strong, so start low.
• Inhalation: put 1 drop on a tissue and hold it a little way from your face. Never hold it close to the nose of a child. Keep it off your skin.
• On the skin: always dilute. Mix 3 drops into 15ml of a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut or jojoba (about 1%). Never exceed 1%. Patch test first, and avoid the face and eyes.

Important safety information

• Very rich in menthol: do not use on or near the face of babies or young children, and keep it out of their reach.
• May cause skin irritation or an allergic skin reaction. Never apply undiluted, keep skin use to 1% or less and avoid contact with eyes and the face.
• For external and aromatic use only. Do not swallow.
• Mint oils can be harmful to pets, especially cats, so ventilate the room and let animals leave when diffusing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put cornmint essential oil on my skin?
Only when diluted. Use no more than 1% (about 3 drops per 15ml of carrier oil), patch test first and keep it away from the face, eyes, sensitive areas and broken skin.

Why keep cornmint away from young children?
Cornmint is very high in menthol, which can cause breathing problems in babies and young children. Do not use it on or near their faces, and keep the bottle out of reach.

What does cornmint blend well with?
It pairs well with Peppermint, Spearmint, Lemon, Eucalyptus and Rosemary.
