Our ylang ylang essential oil is steam-distilled from the drooping yellow flowers of the cananga tree, Cananga odorata. The scent is famously opulent: sweet, creamy, banana-like and deeply floral. This is Ylang Ylang Complete, the full unfractionated distillation, carrying the whole aromatic arc from a bright opening to a soft, balsamic depth. It is a floral heart note in classical perfumery, and a single drop goes a long way.

Each bottle is made of amber glass to help protect the oil from light, and comes with a black-collared glass pipette for controlled, drop-by-drop use. Choose the 10ml size to try it or the 30ml size for regular use.

How to use

• Diffuser: add 1 to 2 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser in a well-ventilated room, in sessions of about 30 minutes. It is far stronger than its softness suggests, and too much can bring on a headache.
• Inhalation: put 1 drop on a tissue and hold it nearby.
• On the skin: always dilute. About 0.5% is plenty (1 drop in 10ml of a carrier oil such as jojoba, or 1.5 drops in 15ml). Never exceed 0.8%. Patch test first.

Important safety information

• Strong, and can cause headaches or nausea if used too liberally, especially when diffused strongly. Use only a little, ventilate the room and stop if you feel unwell.
• May cause an allergic skin reaction. Never apply undiluted, use no more than 0.8% on the skin and patch test first. Avoid sensitive or damaged skin and contact with eyes.
• Avoid during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Take care if you have low blood pressure, and speak to a healthcare professional if you have a medical condition or take medication.
• For external and aromatic use only. Do not swallow.
• Keep out of reach of children. Published guidance advises against use on children under 2, and it should not be used on or near the face of babies or young children.
• Ylang ylang is considered harmful to cats and dogs. Do not diffuse it where animals cannot leave the room and never apply it to them.
• Essential oils are not medicines and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.

Can I put ylang ylang essential oil on my skin?
