A rare, earthy root oil with a musky, peppery depth.

Our angelica root essential oil is steam-distilled from the roots of Angelica archangelica. It has a complex, peppery and earthy aroma with a musk-like depth, and is often nicknamed the “Oil of the Angels”. Perfumers value it as a tenacious base note that adds a sophisticated, grounding foundation to lighter floral blends.

Each bottle is made of matte black glass to help protect the oil from light, and comes with a glass pipette dropper for controlled, drop-by-drop use. Choose the 10ml size to try it or the 30ml size for regular use.

How to use

• Diffuser: add 2 to 4 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser in a well-ventilated room, in short sessions. The aroma is strong and lingering, so start with less.
• Inhalation: put 1 drop on a tissue or cotton ball and breathe in gently. Keep it away from your skin.
• On the skin: always dilute. The maximum is 0.8%, about 2 drops per 15ml of a carrier oil such as jojoba. Patch test first, and avoid sun and UV on treated skin (see below).

Important safety information

• Phototoxic. Do not expose skin treated with angelica root oil to sunlight, sunbeds or UV for at least 12 to 24 hours.
• Use no more than 0.8% on the skin (about 2 drops per 15ml of carrier oil). May cause an allergic skin reaction, so patch test first, never apply undiluted and avoid contact with eyes.
• For external and aromatic use only. Do not swallow.
• Published aromatherapy guidance advises avoiding angelica root oil during pregnancy and with diabetes. Speak to a healthcare professional if you are breastfeeding, have a medical condition or take medication.
• Keep out of reach of children, and do not use on or near the face of babies or young children. Ventilate the room when diffusing, let pets leave freely and never apply the oil to animals.
