Elemi Essential Oil (Canarium luzonicum)

The fresh, lemony resin from the Philippine forests.

Our elemi essential oil is steam-distilled from the resin of the Canarium luzonicum tree and is sourced from the tropical forests of the Philippines. It has a complex, multi-layered scent that is fresh, lemony, spicy and softly balsamic, often compared to a bright cousin of frankincense. It is loved for diffusing, for meditative moments and as a lifting resin note in natural perfumery.

Each bottle is made of glass to help protect the oil from light, and comes with a glass pipette dropper for controlled, drop-by-drop use. Choose the 10ml size to try it or the 30ml size for regular use.

How to use

• Diffuser: add 3 to 4 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser in a well-ventilated room, in short sessions.
• Inhalation: put 1 drop on a tissue and breathe in gently. Keep the tissue away from your skin.
• On the skin: always dilute. Mix 2 drops into 10ml of a carrier oil such as rosehip or argan (1%, about 3 drops per 15ml). Never exceed 1%. Patch test first.

• Dilute and patch test. Use no more than 1% on the skin (about 3 drops per 15ml of carrier oil). Avoid sensitive or damaged skin, and stop if irritation occurs.
• May cause an allergic skin reaction. Never apply undiluted. Avoid contact with eyes.
• Some guidance advises caution in pregnancy. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to a healthcare professional before use.
• Keep out of reach of children. Do not use on or near the face of babies or young children.
• Elemi is rich in citrus-type terpenes, which can be harmful to pets, especially cats. Ventilate the room, let animals leave freely when diffusing, and never apply the oil to them.
• For external and aromatic use only. Do not swallow.

Can I put elemi essential oil on my skin?
Yes, when diluted. Keep it to 1% or less (about 3 drops per 15ml of carrier oil), patch test first, avoid the eyes and broken skin, and stop if irritation occurs.

How is elemi different from frankincense?
Both are resin oils with a clean, balsamic character. Elemi is brighter and more lemony, while frankincense is deeper, warmer and more incense-like. They blend well together.

What does elemi blend well with?
It pairs nicely with Bergamot, Frankincense, Myrrh and Cedarwood.
