Our peppermint essential oil is steam-distilled from the leaves and flowering tops of Mentha piperita, a natural hybrid of watermint and spearmint, sourced from the temperate fields of India. Rich in menthol, it has a sharp, sweet, unmistakably cooling aroma that greets you the moment you open the bottle. In natural perfumery it is a powerful top note that adds an icy lift to herbal and citrus blends. It is assertive, so a single drop often does the work of three.

Each bottle is made of glass to help shield the oil from light, and comes with a glass pipette dropper for drop-by-drop use. Choose the 10ml size to try it or the 30ml size for regular use.

How to use

• Diffuser: add 2 to 3 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser in a well-ventilated room, in short sessions of 30 minutes.
• Inhalation: put 1 drop on a tissue and breathe in gently. Keep the tissue away from your skin and eyes.
• On the skin: always dilute. Mix 3 drops into 15ml of a carrier oil such as grapeseed or sweet almond (about 1%), or 2 drops into 10ml. Never exceed 1%. Keep well away from the eyes. Patch test first.

Important safety information

• Strong in menthol. Do not use peppermint on or near the face of babies or young children, as menthol can affect breathing. Keep it out of their reach.
• May cause an allergic skin reaction. Never apply undiluted, use no more than 1% on the skin and patch test first. Keep away from the eyes, mucous membranes and broken skin, and wash your hands after handling.
• Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless a healthcare professional advises otherwise. Speak to one before use if you have epilepsy, asthma, G6PD deficiency, a heart condition or take regular medication. Not suitable for use alongside homeopathic remedies.
• Peppermint oil can be harmful to cats, dogs and other pets. Keep animals out of the room when diffusing, ventilate afterwards and never apply it to them.
• For external and aromatic use only. Do not swallow.

Can I put peppermint essential oil on my skin?
Yes, when well diluted. Keep it to 1% or less (about 3 drops per 15ml of carrier oil), patch test first, avoid the face and eyes, and stop if irritation occurs. Never use it on babies or young children.

Is peppermint essential oil safe around pets?
Take care. Peppermint oil can be harmful to cats, dogs and other pets. Keep animals out of the room when diffusing, ventilate afterwards, and never apply the oil to their skin or fur.

What does peppermint blend well with?
It blends well with Lavender, Rosemary, Eucalyptus, Lemon and Grapefruit.
