Spooky Season Scents: Halloween and Bonfire Night Diffuser Recipes
The end of October is packed with celebrations: Halloween, Spain’s Día de Todos los Santos on 1 November and, for our British friends, Bonfire Night on 5 November. Here are some fun, cosy diffuser recipes to set the mood.
Pumpkin Spice (without the pumpkin)
3 drops sweet orange, 1 drop cinnamon, 1 drop clove, 1 drop ginger.
All the flavour of the famous latte, none of the queue.
Toffee Apple
3 drops sweet orange, 2 drops vanilla, 1 drop cardamom.
Sweet, warm and nostalgic.

Haunted Forest
3 drops cypress, 2 drops pine, 1 drop vetiver.
Dark, woody and mysterious, like a moonlit walk through the trees.
Bonfire Night
3 drops cedarwood, 1 drop black pepper, 1 drop frankincense.
Smoky, warm and crackling, without the smoke in your hair.
Witch’s Cauldron
2 drops patchouli, 2 drops sweet orange, 1 drop clary sage.
Earthy, herbal and a little bit magical.
Party tips
- Light candles safely. Costumes are flammable, so keep candles well away from capes, wigs and decorations. Battery tea lights are perfect inside pumpkins.
- Spicy oils are strong. Cinnamon and clove need only a single drop each.
- Little visitors: keep diffusers and bottles out of reach of children, and switch off strong spicy blends while young trick-or-treaters are around.
- Pets: fireworks are stressful enough for animals. Keep scents gentle and let them retreat to a quiet, unscented room. See our pet safety guide.
