Sandalwood Essential Oil (Santalum spicatum)

Our sandalwood essential oil is steam-distilled from the heartwood of Santalum spicatum, Australian sandalwood. The aroma is soft, creamy and gently balsamic, with a dry, slightly resinous edge that sets it apart from its Indian relative, and a warmth that develops slowly. In natural perfumery it is a classic base note and fixative, holding lighter florals and citruses in place.

Each bottle is made of amber glass to help protect the oil from light, and comes with a black-collared glass pipette for controlled, drop-by-drop use. Choose the 10ml size to try it or the 30ml size for regular use.

How to use

• Diffuser: add 2 to 3 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser. Sandalwood is subtle, so give it a few minutes to fill the room.
• Inhalation: put 1 drop in your palms, rub together, cup over the nose and take three slow breaths. Wash your hands afterwards.
• On the skin: always dilute. Mix 2 drops into 10ml of a carrier oil such as jojoba or rosehip (1%). Never exceed 1%. Patch test first.
