Description
Hyssop Essential Oil (Hyssopus officinalis)
The old “holy herb” of the Mediterranean highlands.
Our hyssop essential oil is steam-distilled from the flowering tops and leaves of Hyssopus officinalis, and is described as sourced from the Mediterranean highlands, including France and Slovenia. It has a warm, camphoraceous and slightly sweet herbal aroma. It is a potent oil, best kept for occasional use in tiny amounts, and valued by perfumers as a distinctive herbal accent.
Each bottle is made of glass to help protect the oil from light, and comes with a glass pipette dropper for controlled, drop-by-drop use. Choose the 10ml size to try it or the 30ml size for occasional use.

How to use
- Diffuser: add 2 to 3 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser in a large, well-ventilated room, for no more than 30 minutes.
- Inhalation: put 1 drop on a tissue, hold it at arm’s length and take a few breaths. Keep the tissue away from your skin.
- On the skin: not recommended for this oil because of its ketone content.
Important safety information
- Potent oil, handle with care. Hyssop contains ketones that can be neurotoxic in high doses. Use very small amounts, for short periods, in a well-ventilated room.
- Not for skin use. We do not recommend leave-on skin use. It may cause an allergic skin reaction, so avoid contact with skin and wash with soap and water if it spills. Avoid contact with eyes.
- Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and if you have epilepsy or other seizure conditions, or high blood pressure.
- Not suitable for use with children. Keep out of reach, and do not diffuse in rooms where children are.
- Hyssop can be harmful to pets, especially cats. Do not diffuse it around animals or apply it to them.
- For external and aromatic use only. Do not swallow.
- If you have a medical condition or take medication, speak to a healthcare professional before use.
- Essential oils are not medicines and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.
