Description
Ravintsara Essential Oil (Cinnamomum camphora ct. 1,8-cineole)
A clean, fresh camphorous oil from Madagascar.
Our ravintsara essential oil is steam-distilled from the leaves of the camphor tree, Cinnamomum camphora. This is the chemotype rich in 1,8-cineole. The aroma is fresh, clean and softly camphorous, brighter and gentler than eucalyptus. In natural perfumery it works as a bracing top note, lending a cool clarity to herbal and forest blends.
Each bottle is made of amber glass to help protect the oil from light, and comes with a black-collared glass pipette for controlled, drop-by-drop use. Choose the 10ml size to try it or the 30ml size for regular use.

Ways to enjoy it
- A fresh, clean scent for shared spaces such as offices, classrooms and family rooms.
- A bright top note for your own herbal and forest-style blends.
- A crisp, wintery atmosphere in the colder months.
- A lighter, gentler alternative to eucalyptus in diffuser blends.
How to use
- Diffuser: add 3 to 5 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser in a well-ventilated room, in short sessions.
- Inhalation: put 1 drop on a tissue or cotton ball and keep it nearby. Keep it away from your skin.
- On the skin: always dilute. Mix 2 drops into 10ml of a carrier oil such as sweet almond or grapeseed (about 1%), or 6 drops into 30ml for a massage blend. Never exceed 1%. Patch test first.
Important safety information
- Not for babies or young children. Do not use on or near the face of infants or young children, as oils rich in 1,8-cineole can affect their breathing.
- Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless a healthcare professional advises otherwise. Use with caution if you have asthma, and speak to a healthcare professional if you have epilepsy or any other medical condition.
- Dilute and patch test. Use no more than 1% on the skin (about 2 drops per 10ml of carrier oil). May cause an allergic skin reaction. Never apply undiluted, and avoid sensitive or damaged skin.
- External and aromatic use only. Do not swallow. Avoid contact with eyes.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Ravintsara can be harmful to pets, particularly cats. Ventilate the room, let animals leave freely when diffusing, and never apply the oil to them.
- Essential oils are not medicines and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.

Frequently asked questions
Can I put ravintsara essential oil on my skin?
Only when diluted. Use no more than 1% (about 2 drops per 10ml of carrier oil), patch test first and avoid sensitive or damaged skin. Never use it on or near the face of young children.
Is ravintsara the same as eucalyptus?
No. Both are rich in 1,8-cineole, but ravintsara comes from the camphor tree and smells softer and cleaner. The same care applies: avoid it near young children, in pregnancy and with asthma.
What does ravintsara blend well with?
It pairs beautifully with Eucalyptus, Pine, Lemon, Rosemary and Lavender.
