Description
Pine Essential Oil (Pinus sylvestris)
The clean scent of a forest after rain.
Our pine essential oil is steam-distilled from the needles and young twigs of the Scots pine, Pinus sylvestris. The aroma is sharp, resinous, faintly balsamic and unmistakably green. It is loved for freshening stale rooms, for natural cleaning blends and as a bracing top-to-middle note that gives forest and fougère accords their green backbone.
Each bottle is made of amber glass to help protect the oil from light, and comes with a black-collared glass pipette for controlled, drop-by-drop use. Choose the 10ml size to try it or the 30ml size for regular use.

Ways to enjoy it
- A winter-woodland atmosphere when diffused at home.
- A fresh, clean scent for gyms, boot rooms, cars and stale rooms.
- A green, resinous backbone for your own natural perfume and room blends.
- A genuinely clean scent in natural household cleaning blends.
How to use
- Diffuser: add 3 to 5 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser in a well-ventilated room, in short sessions of about 30 minutes.
- Inhalation: put 1 drop on a tissue and hold it nearby, not directly under the nose. Avoid hot-water steam inhalation with essential oils.
- On the skin: always dilute. Mix no more than 3 drops into 15ml of a carrier oil such as grapeseed (1%), or 2 drops into 10ml. Never exceed 1%. Patch test first.
- Room mist: add 10 drops to 100ml of distilled water with a tablespoon of witch hazel in a spray bottle (about 0.5%). Spray into the air, away from pets.
Important safety information
- Can cause skin sensitisation, especially when old or oxidised. Pine oxidises readily in air. Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dark place and use within 12 months of opening. Never apply undiluted, use no more than 1% on the skin and patch test first.
- Not recommended if you have asthma or sensitive airways, as strong vapours can irritate.
- For external and aromatic use only. Do not swallow. Avoid contact with eyes.
- Keep out of reach of children. Do not use on or near the face of babies or young children.
- Pine oils can be harmful to pets, especially cats, so ventilate the room, let animals leave when diffusing, avoid pine-scented mists around animals and never apply the oil to them.
- If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical condition or take medication, speak to a healthcare professional before use, as published guidance is limited.
- Essential oils are not medicines and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.
