Sweet Birch Essential Oil (Betula lenta)
Sweet birch essential oil has a sharp, sweet wintergreen fragrance that is instantly recognisable. It is almost entirely methyl salicylate, which makes it a very potent oil that needs real care.
Available in 10ml and 30ml sizes. Choose 10ml to try it or 30ml for regular use.

Ways to enjoy it
- A bright wintergreen note for fresh, sporty blends, used sparingly.
- A single drop in a diluted massage blend.
- A distinctive accent for minty room blends.
How to use
- Diffuser: add 1 drop to an ultrasonic diffuser in a well-ventilated room, in sessions of 30 to 60 minutes.
- Inhalation: put 1 drop on a tissue and breathe in slowly. Keep the tissue away from your skin and eyes.
- On the skin: always dilute. Mix 2 drops into 10ml of a carrier oil such as sweet almond or jojoba (about 1%), or 3 drops into 15ml. Never exceed 1%. Patch test first.
Important safety information
- May cause an allergic skin reaction. Never apply undiluted, keep skin use to 1% or less and patch test first. Avoid the eyes and broken or sensitive skin.
- Methyl salicylate is toxic if swallowed. Even small amounts can be dangerous, especially for children. Keep the bottle securely out of reach.
- Do not use if you are allergic to aspirin, take anticoagulant (blood-thinning) medication, or have a bleeding disorder.
- For external and aromatic use only. Do not swallow.
- Keep out of reach of children, and do not use on or near the face of babies or young children.
- Harmful to pets, especially cats and dogs. Keep animals out of the room.
- Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and speak to a healthcare professional if you have a medical condition or take medication.
